Aloe Mitriformis Plant Description & Care Instructions Aloe Mitriformis is one of the better known aloe varieties with an attractive appearance and impressive flowering habits making this a very sought after plant for most collectors. Mitriformis is native to the Southern Cape of South Africa and grows best in warm and sunny conditions. It can tolerate temperatures as low as 5C, but for optimum growing 25C is ideal. Aloe mitriformis is a succulent plant and has thick, short leaves that are arranged in a rosette style with short barbs along the outer edges. The leaves are usually a blue green colour, acquiring a reddish tint in dry conditions. Colour variation can be expected depending on the growing conditions. Unlike other Aloe species, Mitriformis is a summer flowering variety. The flowers can be dull to bright red and appear in dense arrangements on the branched stalks. Up to five flowering branches may be present at one time. This Aloe and grow quite large, up to 50cm tall, and 35 cm wide. It also offsets freely, creating lovely clustering. This plant will suit rockery planting, mass planting, containers and indoors. Plant Specifications Your plant will be approx 10-15 cm tall, established with roots. Our plants are posted bare rooted (meaning without a pot with most dirt removed from roots) to reduce spillage and plant damage. Your plant may vary from the specimen pictured, however we will ensure that it is of a similar size and in good health.
